Westinghouse Electric Company already holds a fully completed AP1000 reactor design package — approved in four countries and comprising over 90,000 drawings and technical documents — that will allow it to accelerate new nuclear projects in Ukraine in partnership with Energoatom, according to Joel Eaker, Senior Vice President of APX Projects EMEA. Unit 5 at Khmelnytska NPP is expected to be among the first projects implemented under the collaboration. Westinghouse has already contributed to the project’s analytical and design justification and continues to work with Energoatom on supply chain integration and the incorporation of Ukrainian capabilities into its global operations. The broader initiative is supported by a memorandum covering the construction of nine AP1000 reactors in Ukraine.
