On 24 April, near Bucha, HALO Trust welcomed Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, to observe how cutting-edge technology is transforming demining operations in Ukraine. The Duke piloted an AI-powered drone capable of mapping explosive hazards in real time — a tool that has reduced terrain analysis from days to hours — and watched a live demonstration of R-BOT, an unmanned ground vehicle that allows teams to inspect and interact with explosive ordnance from a safe distance. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, HALO’s teams have confirmed over 29,000 sq km of land as safe and destroyed more than 60,000 explosive items, working to return homes, farmland, and safety to Ukrainian communities.
