On 24 June, USUBC, in partnership with the Atlantic Council, System Capital Management and DTEK, hosted a Breakfast Roundtable titled “Investment Opportunities in Ukraine Now and After the War”. The roundtable was moderated by Ambassador John Herbst, Former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine and Senior Director of the Eurasia Center at the Atlantic Council, who set the stage for a discussion on accelerating private-sector engagement in Ukraine’s recovery.
Discussion centered on how Ukraine’s “economic first responders” — companies already operating in the country today — need expanded access to capital to scale their efforts and help close the gap between current engagement and the start of broader post-war recovery. Participants explored practical ways to innovate on existing financing mechanisms and crowd in new investment now, rather than waiting for the war to end, reinforcing the view that sustained engagement by companies on the ground is essential to a successful reconstruction.
