USUBC Supports Breakfast Briefing “Central Europe and Ukraine: What US defense industry needs to know on Europe’s New Defense Engine Room”

May 15, 2026

Hosted by the Embassy of Austria in the United States jointly with Wolf Theiss, a leading Central and Eastern European law firm, this event brough together a highly specialized audience that included representatives of leading defense companies, government, diplomats and other stakeholders.

The event was expertly moderated by Thomas Moschig, Austrian Trade Commissioner in Washington D.C., and featured three speakers: Irina Paliashvili, President & CEO, U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC), Bryan Jardine and Taras Dumych – both Partners at Wolf Theiss.

Speakers focused on the key topic: how Central and Eastern Europe has become Europe’s defense engine room — the continent’s fastest-adapting arena, with the largest acquisition pipelines, the most urgent ammunition and MRO programs and the industrial build-out where surge production is being located, with Ukraine becoming an innovation engine in its own right, reshaping how procurement, testing, R&D, sustainment and fielding are done.

USUBC is grateful to Wolf Theiss for the excellent cooperation on this event, and to the Embassy of Austria in Washington D.C. for generous hosting.
