John Jansen is a retired U.S. Marine General Officer who served in the United States Marine Corps from 1987-2021. He retired in 2021 as a Lieutenant General (3-star). His service as a General Officer includes positions as the Deputy Commandant for Programs and Resources (Chief Financial Officer of the Marine Corps), Commandant (President) of the Eisenhower School of National Security and Resource Strategy (National Defense University); and Commanding General, 3d Marine Expeditionary Brigade (Okinawa, Japan). His operational Marine Corps service includes combat tours as an F/A-18 pilot (3,000 hours); carrier pilot (485 arrested carrier landings); Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) graduate; Marine Aircraft Group commander (MAG-11). Arms control treaty inspection Team Chief (lived in Germany; treaty inspections for Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia) ; squadron commanding officer (Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 251).
After retirement, he has engaged in a number of commercial enterprises to include Managing Director of the EMEA business unit for Luminator Technology Group in Europe (Blackstone portfolio company); CEO of Advanced Technology International; currently Director on the Board of Oklo, an advanced technology nuclear energy company (Chairman of the Compensation Committee; Member Audit Committee). He also advises a number of companies and funds in the United States, Israel, and Ukraine.
He graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Kelley School of Business (1986); Harvard Business School’s General Management Program (2024); NATO Defense College (Rome; 2009); and the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN; 1997).
