A new Memorandum, signed between Ukraine’s Ministry of Education and Science and SCM companies Metinvest and DTEK, formalizes business support for Modern Learning Spaces – a reform-driven initiative aimed at addressing the country’s shortage of engineering and technical specialists by creating fully equipped STEM classrooms and laboratories in academic lyceums nationwide. The Ministry is allocating UAH 1.9 billion ($46 million) in 2026 to equip approximately 250 institutions, while Metinvest and DTEK have jointly contributed nearly UAH 11 million ($265,000) to fund an Implementation Support Team that will guide schools through the design, refurbishment, and quality-control process. By 1 September 2026, 143 pilot lyceums are expected to begin teaching under the new standards in modernized facilities, with a comprehensive public report on the results due in December.
