Brad Hopewell is the deputy economic counselor at the United States Embassy in Kyiv. Brad has worked for the Department of State for 16 years and arrived in Kyiv in August 2025. Brad has served in Nairobi, Islamabad, Astana, and in Washington DC. Prior to the Foreign Service, he was a high school teacher in Washington DC, and has degrees from George Washington University in political science and education. Brad is married with one son: his wife Megan is also a diplomat in Kyiv, and his son is a first-year student at the University of South Carolina. Originally from Washington state, Brad enjoys supporting Seattle sports teams.
